Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman from the United States. Buss is the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently acts as the association's president. The California native, Buss was raised in an extremely wealthy family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty tycoon, and then later owned the Lakers. When she was in the year 1972, her parents broke up together and she felt abandoned. When she was 19 years old, she became the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis team. In the following years, she created the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. She served as the president of the Great Western Forum, before becoming Vice president of the Lakers. Her father died in 2013, and the ownership of the Lakers was transferred to Buss as well as her siblings by a trust of the family that gave each sibling the same vote. Her duties were assumed as the president of Los Angeles Lakers. Buss co-owns Women of Wrestling an pro-wrestling promotional company based in Los Angeles.
